Summary
The criteria of the Grassroots Sports fund is to improve the quality and participation in sport for all, remove barriers to participation, and improve sustainability. They will consider applications for:
- Purchasing sports equipment, excluding items of clothing 
- Coaching and coaching development costs 
- Facilities hire 
- Encouraging the inclusion of minority groups and those facing barriers to entry 
- In light of Covid-19, and difficulties with lost income and funding, they will also consider applications for support of general running costs

Notes on award amounts:
Can only support applications where the grant request is at least 25% of the total costs. Annual total and average from 2021/22.

This is a rolling programme with no deadlines. Decisions take approximately 10 weeks from receipt of your application.

Exclusions
- Grant requests for less than 25% (one quarter) of the project costs 
- Costs already incurred or activities which will take place before we have made a decision on funding (retrospective funding) 
- Trips abroad 
- The purchase of second hand vehicles 
- Statutory organisations 
- Work in schools, during school/lesson hours 
- Projects which are currently in receipt of an Express Grant or Baillie Gifford award ( you will need to wait for eight months from the date your grant is approved prior to re-applying)
